Notes on 2024: Week #1
It's 10 days into the new year and I've been toying with the idea of doing a weekly update/journal post. That's 52 weeks/posts and that number looks doable for the year. This post is late by that plan but wth!
I started this year with a cold that flattened me for 36 hours and almost had me cancel my travel plans. I felt so wiped out, no fever but such fatigue and heaviness of the left side of the head. Travel tickets got upgraded and I was on the mend just in time to board the train to Goa on 4th.
Travel
I've put on my dusty winged shoes this year and my travels have begun with the blessing of Yemanjá, Goddess of the Ocean.
GOA - Three days of sun, sand, and fun with family. Long morning beach walks, sand castles, sunrises & sunsets, lounging by the beach, crochet, after-dinner family beach walks, tempo-traveller sightseeing, shopping!, family tales with pizza,... So much packed into three days.
Exercise
I gave myself an off-year last year, I let go completely and ended the year with zero exercise, I moved only as much as required (which in my case is about 3-4k steps).
This year I want to get back to working on getting the body I want. Its baby steps as I reconnect with my body. The plan is to learn my body and mind's limitations, understand what's stopping them and then push those limits.
I've clocked 5 walks in these 10 days in the range of 1 to 2.5km. They've been easy walks with pauses for absorbing life around, and they have not been too tiring.
Craft
Over the last few years and especially last year, I've struggled with my craftwork, so many projects lie incomplete and the list of the ones I must start keeps growing.
My rakhis from last year finally got dispatched. They have been a slow work of love this time around, but in holding to my little girl pledge of never missing a Rakhi, I kept at making them one thread at a time, it feels like I worked my life's threads along too.
And in Goa I started on my next project. This one's a simple quick-make crochet pen holder for our calender. And since it's not yet complete, maybe it's not quick-make.
That's it.
